Calls for the GNU to reconsider their Morals and Professionalism
South Africa’s GNU will have to strategize accordingly to tackle socio-economic issues and secure a better future for the youth.
The GNU faces growing pressure to turn over a new leaf in South Africa’s society and enforce morals on its people, especially on the youth.
Stabilising South Africa’s economy and improving its citizens living condition has been an uphill battle so far for the GNU.
The executive trustee of the Kgalema Motlanthe Foundation (KMF), Gugu Motlanthe, spoke at a conference recently. It was attended by people in various career fields, stretching from economists and politicians to political analysts.
“This can only happen through leadership that is focused on the future of our country. A new social accord and contract is needed between the people and the GNU”, Motlanthe advised.
She also said that resources at the government’s disposal need to be made available to tackle socio-economic issues such as poverty, homelessness, and lack of job opportunities.
Stricter measurements need to be put in place to tackle the ongoing issue of violence against women and children as well as the predicament of inequality.
The GNU also needs to put the struggles of township shop owners into perspective and try to motivate young entrepreneurs.
“Leadership should reveal their extraordinary work and potential – changing their lives by encouraging the vibrancy of eKasi (township)”, she said.
Farmers should also feel more appreciated and need to be included in the political space of the GNU.
Poverty has been highlighted as one of South Africa’s fundamental socio-economic issues.
Citizens are expecting better leadership than what is currently on offer as they demand overall social improvements.
