On Monday Gaza residents and humanitarian workers begged for Humanitarian aid after a week since Israel cut-off entry of food, water, and fuel (to power generators) supplies. The humanitarian aid cannot reach Gaza because of Israel’s siege around the area.
UNRWA (The United Nations Relief and Works Agency) chief, Philippe Lazzarini calls for the siege to be lifted saying, “Gaza is running out of water, and Gaza is running out of life.”
Meanwhile, Israel’s airstrikes at the Rafah border in Gaza have also resulted to the death of 80 people.
In a press conference at the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv, United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken also revealed that US President Joe Biden will be visiting Israel on Wednesday. He will be paying this visit to show support to Israel.
“He’s coming here at a critical moment for Israel, for the region and for the world,” said Blinken.
According to the Palestinian health ministry, 3000 Palestinians lost their lives since the conflict started on October 7.
According to The Associated Press, people have become so desperate that they are resorting to the consumption of polluted water.
“People grew increasingly desperate in their search for food and water. With taps dry, many have resorted to drinking dirty or sewage-filled water, risking the spread of disease, ” they said.
The United Nations also revealed that by Wednesday hospitals are expected to run out of fuel to power generators, and this could lead to an increase in the number of fatalities due to power-needing equipment such as incubators and ventilators not functioning.
Hospital staff, however, refuse to leave the hospitals despite the dangers, because many patients including newborn babies need all the help they can get.
