Daniel Andries Roeman
Daniel, a coach and former player for the Roses United Rugby Club, was born on the farms of the Western Cape in Vlakkenheuwel, Hermon (13 February 1978). He began playing rugby at a young age, and his passion for the sport was ignited while he was a learner at Bakerville Primary School in 1988 when he was just 10 years old.
EARLY LIFE
Daniel Andries Roeman began his primary education at Vlakkenheuwel Primary School, where he attended grades 1 to 3 from 1985 to 1987. In 1988, he moved in with his grandmother in Voelvlei, Western Cape, and transferred to Bakerville Primary School in Gouda, where he completed grades 4 to 7 from 1988 to 1991. After finishing primary school, he relocated to Wellington with his family and started high school at Bergrivier High School, where he studied from grade 8 to grade 12 between 1992 and 1996.
PERSONAL LIFE
Daniel's passion for rugby began when he was 10 years old. He played rugby at Bakerville Primary School and earned a spot on the Western Cape Rugby Team to participate in the under-13 tournament in Upington. His dedication to the sport led him to reach the South African Primary School Sports Association in 1991.
After completing his schooling, Daniel continued to play rugby and spent two seasons in Italy, playing for six months in both 1997 and 1998. Additionally, he toured France with the South African under-17 rugby team for two weeks in 1996. He also played for the under-18 team and made it to the under-21 trials for the South African Rugby Team.
He played for the Boland Rugby Union from under 17 to under 21, from 1995 to 1999. Additionally, from 1996 to 1999, he was a player for Rosebuds Rugby Club. In 2000, a new team called Roses United Rugby Club was formed throught the union of Rosebuds Rugby Football Club and Roslins RFC, where he played for six years, from 2000 to 2006. After that, he joined the University of the Western Cape and played there for two years, from 2007 to 2009. He returned to Roses United Rugby Club for one final year, from 2009 to 2010.
He took a break from rugby for three years, from 2010 to 2013. After that, he worked at C.A. Muller Fabrication for ten years, from 2013 to 2023. Currently, he is coaching the Roses United Rugby Club and Labori High School.
