Marshalline Martin
An artist born in Paarl, Western Cape (9 February 1984). She is a South African who has been passionate about community work and believes in learning, with a rich background in education.
EARLY LIFE
Marshalline started her primary school at Paulus Joubert Primary School in Paarl from 1991 to 1997, from grade 1 to grade 7. From 1998 to 2002, she went to New Orleans Secondary School, where she matriculated.
CAREER
In 2003, she enrolled at A+ Computer Studies in Cape Town, where she studied Business Communication, Computer Studies, and Office Management. She completed this program in 2004. In 2005, she began a year of Film Studies at the New Africa Theatre Association and also participated in Career Guidance from 2005 to 2006. From 2014 to 2016, Marshalline attended Southern Business School, focusing on Project Management, Business Communication, Marketing, Management, and Entrepreneurship. In 2016, she completed Cultural Tour Guide training at Heartbeat Academy. In 2018, she studied Arts Management, Literature, Heritage, and Performance Art with the City of Cape Town.
In 2018, she participated in the Emerging Business Support Programme at the University of the Western Cape. In 2019, she completed a short course in Social Media at G&D Training Academy. She further enhanced her skills by taking courses in Introduction to Business and Business Pitching in 2020, along with additional training in Budgeting, Goal Setting, and Key Resources and Activities at Labit Academy.
In 2021, Marshalline continued her studies by taking courses in Gender-Based Violence and Consumer Financial Education at a nonprofit organization called Network for Christ. Additionally, she completed a short course in Assistant Chef Training at Cathsseta Training that same year. Furthermore, she obtained a Level 1 Volleyball Coaching certification from the Volleyball Association of South Africa.
In 2022, she enrolled in Community Arts and Performance Management at Cyan Consulting Pty. She also participated in a three-day short course on Introduction to Creative Arts Industries and attended a Community Arts sector information session workshop hosted by the City of Cape Town.
PERSONAL LIFE
Marshalline Martin is a God-fearing woman, a business mentor, entrepreneur, poet, actress, and community activist. After completing her matriculation, she studied film, acting, and cultural studies. She has played leading roles in theatre productions and has been featured in both local and international films and commercials.
Marshalline served as a heritage educator at the Robben Island Museum, guiding school children and adult learners on tours while educating them about the museum's significance. She is passionate about the arts, culture, literature, heritage, and traditional affairs. Marshalline is actively involved with various forums and organizations that promote these areas and share knowledge within the community.
Marshalline is a survivor of gender-based violence who actively supports organizations focused on awareness and prevention programs. She currently teaches arts and crafts, as well as speech and drama, to children in the community. In addition, she is involved in Khoisan matters and advocates for their rights. As a chief, she works on building sustainability within Drakenstein.
Marshalline remains optimistic about her future endeavors aimed at making a positive social impact in the community. She has a strong interest in entrepreneurship and enjoys networking with other entrepreneurs. She is the founder of Zisa Ithemba NPC/NPO/PBO and Memorable Moments Trading Pty Ltd, as well as an independent business owner with The Perfume Co. Africa.
