Women Football on the Rise: Sporting Stars FC

In their brief history, Sporting Stars FC has already become a household name in the Cape Winelands Region and will surely go further up the league rankings.

The team’s achievements are outstanding with Sporting Stars winning the 2016 BVLFA Super League as well as being named the 2018 BVLFA Club of the Year. 

More recently they were crowned the SAFACW Women's Regional League Pre-Season Tournament winners for 2023 and will be looking to replicate the same form in the 2024 edition of the tournament.

The Cape Winelands region has produced classy women’s football teams over the years and Sporting Stars FC is a testament to that. 

Sporting Stars FC are currently 1st on the log with 18 points and an impressive goal difference of +38. They still have 11 games left to clinch the Cape Winelands Regiona WRL. Their aim is to stay razor sharp to achieve their objectives

Warriors Soccer Academy as well as Worcester City are their nearest rivals and toughest opponents with the two sitting in 2nd and 3rd place on the log.

Team captain Ebeneshia Malgas has played a fundamental role in her team’s recent success. With fantastic leadership skills, tenacity, and bravery she is an integral part of the team.

Malgas is a tough tackling defender who can play the ball with both feet. She can also adapt to numerous positions on the field and often shows her passion for the game during matches.

Team captain Ebeneshia Malgas is a key player for her football team and plays with her heart on her sleeve.

Ebeneshia has also stated that it is her dream to play for Banyana Banyana one day and represent them in major tournaments.
