Lamberts Bay a "White Racist Town"?

Videos are circulating regarding an incident that took place on Lamberts Bay’s golf course. As we move into 2024 the gloves are starting to come off and political figures of various parties are going at it stating their claim and trying to convince the community that they are the right fit and best candidates to lead their respective communities. 

There is a variety of videos in circulation concerning the incident that happened on New Year's in Lamberts Bay. People can be seen caught up in a rumble and having a fierce conversation afterward. According to Joseph Farmer the Speaker and Councillor of Cederberg and Lamberts Bay, John Hayes showed up to the Golf course demanding to see a license of the club and decided to damage the car of a club chairperson. Farmer says “The Speaker started to dismantle the gate of the club house acting completely out of order”.

According to residents from Lamberts Bay, there are a number of cases opened against the Speaker with proof of how he interferes with administration work captured on emails and phone recordings. Community members want Speaker John Hayes removed from his position stating that the community is not getting enough services and no job opportunities are made available to the public. 

Cohen van der Heever says “John Hayes, Joos Engelbrecht, and the team that’s calling us ‘gat hondjies’ wants to make Lamberts Bay a white racist town”.
