The name Yank carries a powerful message. “Yank means everything to me. It's a declaration that I'm stepping into my own, embracing my identity, and sharing my truth,” he says. You Are Now Know represents not just a name, but a mindset, and commitment to embracing his story authentically, inspiring others to do the same.

Moving from Mdantane to the Mother City gave Yank a new lens through which to see, hear the world. “It was a game changer,” he explains. “It exposed me to new cultures, vibes, and people. My sound blends influence from the USA with the energy of Mdantsane.” The results of a fusion of raw hip hop beats, melodic flow, and heartfelt storytelling that's both fresh and deeply personal.

Yank credits artists like SoFaygo and Gunna for inspiring his creative direction. The authenticity and boldness encouraged him to craft a sound that's unmistakably his own. “They stay true to themselves and create something new,” he says. “That's what I'm aiming for with Yank.”

Yank's debut EP, “The Introduction,” is a six-track journey that reveals his evolution as an artist. “The introduction represents a raw and honest reveal of my journey, experiences, and emotions, alongside my brother's perspective,” he says. The tracks explore themes of self-discovery, authenticity, and vulnerability, reminding listeners that they are not alone in their struggles.

One of the standout tracks, “Good and bad,” holds a special place in his heart. “It’s about the quality of life and how people respond to your choices,” Yank says. “It’s about navigating relationships, expectations, and self-accaptence, and finding balance in the highs and lows.”

Working with producer Esinawo Gqomfa and KOWTINMINION REPRESENTS on the visuals brought new layers to the project. “These collaborations brought raw energy and creative freedom,” Yank notes. “It allowed us to stay true to the message while experimenting with sound and visuals.”

Yanks' first music video, “Misunderstood,” produced with KOWTINMINION REPRESENTS, remains one of his striking visuals. “The visuals capture feelings of isolation and confusion,” he explains. “We wanted to create something relatable that sparks introspection.” The video, available exclusively on YouTube, continues to resonate with fans who see themselves reflected in his story.

Looking ahead, Yank is focused on growth and creative reach. “We're planning visuals for other tracks, connecting with fans through live performances, social media, and collaborations,” he says. “It’s all about sharing our journey and staying real. This is only the beginning.”
