Wellington’s Forward Power Triumphs Over Adelaars’ Backline Brilliance
The atmosphere at "Die Dam" was electric this past Saturday, 14 March 2026, as two Boland titans clashed in a Streekuitdaag encounter that lived up to the hype. In a high-scoring affair, Wellington secured a 45–26 victory over a resilient Adelaars side.
While the final scoreline suggests a comfortable margin for the visitors, the match was a fascinating tactical battle. Wellington brought a formidable pack of forwards to the contest, utilizing their physical dominance to control the set-pieces and create a platform for their high-scoring tally.
However, Adelaars did anything but roll over. The home side’s backline proved to be a "force to be reckoned with," showing incredible flair and speed that kept the Wellington defenders on their toes throughout the 80 minutes. Adelaars team manager, Jaquin Galant, praised his squad's tenacity despite the result.
"Our boys fought hard and showcased quality rugby," Galant noted. "The whole team was outstanding, and we took some great perspectives out of this game."
Looking Ahead
Adelaars head back to the drawing board under the guidance of coaches Francois Prins, Dirk Klaasen, and Saul Hendricks. While they nurse a few minor injuries, the spirit in the camp remains unbroken. Their motto, "Ons gaan in... maak moeilikheid... kom uit... en gaan huis toe," rings true as they prepare for another massive local derby against Evergreens Wellington on 21 March.
