BACKING OUR BOYS: RUGBY FUNDRAISER TO ELEVATE TEAM’S ASPIRATION

This Friday, the local Club 101 will host a significant fundraising event organized by Jacobs Sport Assist (JSA) to support a rural rugby team in need. The event, spearheaded by Mr. Joshua Jacobs, the founder of Jacobs Sport Assist, aims to raise funds for essential rugby team supplies, including clothing before the new season kicks off.

Jacobs Sport Assist is a rural-based academy that focuses on nurturing those who are skilled but lack opportunities due to the high costs associated with more prominent academies. Despite financial challenges, JSA thrived over the past two years, earning four prestigious awards for their efforts in sports.

Mr. Joshua Jacobs explained that the motivation behind the fundraising event is to ensure talented athletes receive the resources they need to succeed, aiming to overcome financial barriers that could hinder their progress.

The fundraising event is crucial for JSA, as the academy has struggled to secure sponsorship from large companies. Mr. Jacobs explained, "Our small structure and focused approach have made it difficult to attract big sponsors”.  He hopes the community's support will make a difference.

In addition to providing essential supplies for the rugby team, the funds raised will help sustain JSA’s ongoing efforts to offer quality training and opportunities to athletes, highlighting the potential and talent within these young players. While they have achieved considerable success in a short time, there is still a long journey ahead. He stressed that the fundraising event serves not only to raise money but also to demonstrate the community's belief in the boys and their potential.

Despite being a rural academy, Jacobs Sport Assist has thrived, with plans for their talented young athletes to play for the Western Province International Academy in the near future. Looking ahead, they are gearing up for a television league scheduled for September. This highlights their determination and commitment to excellence, showcasing how a smaller, rural-focused organisation can compete at the highest levels and provide crucial opportunities for its participants.
