Coloured Corps Veterans receiving Second Class treatment from SA Government?

South African Coloured Corps Veterans are frustrated and angry with the Government of South Africa controlled mainly by the ANC.

On 3 September 1963, the South African Coloured Corps was established as a Permanent Force Corps of the South African Defence Force. Since then many Coloured Corps members have devoted their lives to protecting and defending South Africa.

Many South African Coloured Corps military veterans have still not been compensated for their courageous efforts during The South African Border War, also known as the Namibian War of Independence, and sometimes denoted in South Africa as the Angolan Bush War, a largely asymmetric conflict that occurred in Namibia (then South West Africa), Zambia, and Angola from 26 August 1966 to 21 March 1990.

Coloured Corps Veterans have been waiting ever since the end of Apartheid to be paid for their contributions to protecting and defending South Africa. Conversations however have been making the rounds that Apla veterans have received compensation. Azanian People's Liberation Army (APLA) formerly known as Poqo was a military wing of the PAN Africanist Congress.

While The Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Ms Thandi Modise promulgated the Military Veterans Regulations on the 06th of October 2023 through the Government Gazette and the Government Pension Administration Agency (GPAA) started the admission and processing of prospective pension beneficiaries it is said that the first batch of payments have been made on 1 November 2023.

The most tragic of all that is currently taking place is that thousands of SACC veterans are being left in the dark without any form of compensation many are still fighting trauma built up over the years and others are homeless making it a travesty and a national concern.

According to law, the government is obligated to support and assist all veterans including those from South African Coloured Corps. The best practice must be implemented and steps must be taken to ensure that the veterans are compensated as stated by South African Law.

The Veterans are tired of waiting. When will this government wake up and take the Citizens of South Africa seriously?
